Floating offshore wind is central to reducing reliance on fossil fuels and reaching net-zero by 2050. This is according to the latest report published by the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) entitled, Floating Offshore Wind – a Global Opportunity. The report assessed market potential and readiness across over 100 countries, developing a shortlist of 30 countries with strong potential. This was further narrowed to five countries, which have a combined technical potential of 3,861GW.
