Xin Baoan said that the global climate crisis is intensifying and extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, while excessive consumption of fossil fuels remains a major cause of climate change.

On 8–9 April, the 2026 Plenary Session of the Connectivity (Power) Working Group under the Belt and Road Energy Partnership Cooperation Network and Thematic Activities on Belt and Road Energy Cooperation were held in Shanghai.
On 9–10 April local time, the 2026 International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum(IVECF 2026), jointly organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, and other institutions, was held in Vienna, Austria, under the theme "Powering Prosperity, Security and Stability.
On 9–10 April local time, the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum (IVECF 2026) was held at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna, Austria. Under the theme of “Powering Prosperity, Security and Stability,” the Forum brought together political leaders, representatives of United Nations agencies, energy experts, and pioneers of green industry from around the world. Discussions focused on advancing energy transition and climate action in a coordinated manner, building multilateral consensus on global economic recovery, stable energy supply chains, and long-term sustainable development, while providing a high-level platform for dialogue and practical cooperation.
On April 1, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) held an exchange meeting with the Long Duration Energy Storage Council at its headquarters. Zhou Yuanbing, Deputy Secretary-General of GEIDCO, and Julia Souder, Chief Executive Officer of the Long Duration Energy Storage Council, attended and addressed the meeting on behalf of each side.
On March 30, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) convened the Third Session of its Second Council (the “Council”). The meeting was attended and addressed by Chairman Xin Baoan and presided over by Executive Vice Chairman Liu Zehong.
From March 24 to 27, the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2026 was held in Boao, Hainan Province. On March 26, Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, attended the plenary session and delivered a keynote speech titled “Staying the Course and Jointly Creating a Better Future.”
