Ukraine and Moldova synchronise their power networks with the European grid

Ukraine and Moldova, which were previously synchronised with the IPS/UPS electricity system (former USSR system) including the Unified Power System of Russia as well as the national networks of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Georgia, and Mongolia, disconnected their power systems from the networks of Russia and Belarus in February 2022, when the Russian army attacked Ukraine. Subsequently, Ukrenergo applied for emergency synchronisation with the European power system, which was previously scheduled in 2023.
