On the morning of September 27, the Solar Power and GEI Alliances—Showcase of Achievements Thematic Forum of the 2023 Global Energy Interconnection Conference was held in Beijing. This Forum was co-organized with the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), Golden Concord Holdings Limited (GCL), Trina Solar Co., Ltd., Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP), Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), and Asian Photovoltaic Industry Association (APVIA). The Forum was presided over by Jauad El Kharraz, Executive Director of the RCREEE. Cheng Zhiqiang, Chief Cooperation Officer of GEIDCO, attended the Forum and delivered a speech.

Cheng Zhiqiang pointed out that since its establishment, the GEIDCO had built an international cooperation platform for extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits with the strong support of its council member and member units, and all sectors of society. It has established close partnerships with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, United Nations Environment Programme, and secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Global solar energy resources are abundant, with enormous development potential. As a clean and renewable form of energy, solar energy is receiving increasingly widespread attention. Adhering to the new development philosophy, the GEIDCO will unite all parties to propose solutions to the accelerated development, optimal allocation and efficient utilization of resources with a broad vision, a holistic perspective, and systematic thinking, in a bid to promote the construction of a new energy system and facilitate carbon neutrality.
In his keynote speech, Chairman of GCL Zhu Gongshan said that with the Global Energy Interconnection (GEI) concept gaining momentum, the pace of global clean development is quickening, and the level of both power grid interconnection and electrification is improving. The GEI is advancing global connectivity of electricity like that of information. Li Mingfu, Secretary of the SUEP Party Committee, Jauad El Kharraz, Executive Director of the RCREEE, Li Jun, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of China Tianying Inc., and Yang Xiaozhong, Vice President and Chief Brand Officer of Trina Solar, respectively introduced the current situation and forecast of global PV installed capacity, demonstration projects of PV zero-carbon industrial parks and integrated development of the PV industries.
Further, the representatives of Professional Alliances introduced and discussed the showcase of achievements in such fields as PV power generation technologies, industrial policies, industry-education integration, and investment and financing models. Participants included Worawat Meevasana, Deputy Head of the Institute of Science of Suranaree University of Technology, Nicholas Mather, Senior Carbon Sink Specialist of APVIA and QYH Investment, Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, Executive Director of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Rohit Viru from the UK Smart City Institute, and Antoine Vagneur-Jones, Head of Trade and Supply Chains at BloombergNEF.

This Forum attracted wide attention. It gathered more than 300 people from over 20 countries in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa, including government officials, enterprise representatives and heads of institutions.
