The UK Export Finance (UKEF) and Poland’s export credit agency KUKE have granted a €249m loan to the Turkish renewable energy company Kalyon Enerji for the construction of a 390 MW solar power project in Türkiye. The project, which will see the construction of power plants at seven separate sites in the Bor-Niğde, Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa-Viranşehir provinces, is touted as the country’s second-largest solar project to date. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply electricity to more than 65,000 Turkish households.
At the end of 2023, Türkiye had installed over 11 GW of solar capacity, which accounted for around 6.5% of its power mix.
