CSG:CSG Achieves Target of Adding 100m KW of Installed New Energy Capacity For 14th Five-Year Plan Period Ahead of Schedule

CSG is driving the transformation towards green and low-carbon energy transition and accelerating the establishment of a new electric power system. In the first half of this year, the total installed capacity of newly added new energy in southern China reached 158 million kilowatts (kW), marking CSG's early completion of the goal of adding 100 million kW of installed new energy capacity set out for the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period by a year and a half.

CSG has constructed 19 transmission lines with voltages of 500 kilovolts and above for west-to-east power transmission, with 18 lines terminating in Guangdong province, where over 80% of the transmitted electricity is generated from renewable sources. The Guangdong Targeted Grid Project has been comprehensively built, increasing the electricity exchange capacity between the eastern and western parts of Guangdong from 4 million kW to 10 million kW and enhancing the power supply capacity of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area by 80 percent.

CSG continues to develop the cross-provincial power trading model that combines agreements with markets, and advances ancillary services, including peak shaving, frequency regulation, and reserve, as well as green energy trading market development.

Leveraging the digital grid as a pivot, CSG emphasizes digital empowerment by developing a complete IoT network, grid management platform, CSG Vision, and other digital infrastructure to comprehensively drive the digitization of power grids and grid management. These efforts support the integration of a multitude of entities and the operation of complex systems.

CSG has pioneered the development of the first domestic new energy precise forecasting platform across multiple time and spatial scales, conducting research on cutting-edge technologies such as combination forecasting, error tracing, prediction evaluation, and more.

Since the 14th Five-Year Plan started, CSG has actively promoted the construction of 35 new electric power system demonstration zones, selecting 40 near-zero carbon demonstration zones in various fields such as production, office management, operation, and social services from the company's departments and affiliates. The company has established near-zero carbon management and evaluation mechanisms, formulating a set of replicable and scalable construction solutions.

The construction of new electric power systems has entered a new phase. In the next steps, CSG will focus on promoting clean energy supply, establishing key platforms for the digital grid, creating green interactive consumption models, accelerating the coordinated development of diverse energy storage, improving the power market system and mechanisms, and strengthening technological equipment innovation.
