Norway's updated NDC targets 70–75% GHG emissions cut by 2035

Norway has submitted a new NDC for 2035 with a target to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by at least 70-75% compared to 1990 levels. Norway also maintains its 2030 NDC, submitted in 2022, with a target to reduce emissions by at least 55% compared to 1990 levels and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.

According to the NDC for 2030, Norway’s GHG emissions are expected to reach about 23 MtCO2eq by 2030, while the base year emissions reported in Norway’s National Inventory Report were approximately 51 MtCO2eq in 1990. Norway’s total GHG emissions reached 54 MtCO2eq in 2023 (40 MtCO2eq including LULUCF).
