China: Home to the World's Largest and Most Comprehensive Clean Energy Industry Chain

According to the Global Energy Transition Report (2025), released by the China Enterprise Reform and Development Society, China has established the world's largest andmost comprehensive clean energy industry chain. The report highlighted that China's total energy transition investment reached USD 818 billion in 2024, up 20% year-on-year,surpassing the combined investments of the United States, the United Kingdom, andthe European Union, making China the global leader. China exports wind power equipment, PV modules, new energy vehicles, and related products to over 200 countries andregions worldwide, providing 70% of global wind power equipment and 80% of PVmodules. This has driven the global cost of wind power and PV power generation downby more than 60% and 80%, respectively. As the world's largest coal consumer, China'sproportion of coal-fired power installed capacity has steadily decreased in recent years,from 58.7% in 2015 to 33.1% in the first half of 2025. Meanwhile, China is emerging asa global leader in renewable hydrogen production and the development of related industries. As of now, China's green hydrogen production capacity exceeds 150,000 tons peryear, accounting for more than 50% of the global total. A total of 540 hydrogen refuelingstations have been built, representing 40% of the global share.
