On March 10, the world's first 630 °C thermal power unit completed single-unit commissioning at the Datang Yuncheng 630 °C Ultra-supercritical Double Reheat Power Demonstration Project, marking a significant milestone in the project's development and pavingthe way for the upcoming ignition and start-up phase. According to reports, the project hasbeen included in national power demonstration projects and is planned to install two 1 GWultra-supercritical double reheat coal-fired power units. Incorporating multiple globally pioneering technologies, it represents the first engineering application of the new-generationChina-made G115 heat-resistant steel, effectively resolving the longstanding dependency onimported high-temperature materials. The project also raises the steam temperature of coalfired power units to 630 °C for the first time worldwide, pushing the power generation thermal efficiency above 50%. The unit's main steam pressure reaches 35.5 MPa, with coal consumption for electricity supply as low as 256.28 g/kWh. It is currently the 1 GW single-shaftdouble reheat thermal power unit with the highest pressure, the highest temperature, thehighest efficiency, and the lowest coal consumption in the world. Once in commercial operation, the project is expected to save approximately 208,000 tce and reduce about 540,000CO2 annually compared with a conventional 1 GW thermal power unit project.
